Writing a short video script with AI usually gets you something polished, generic and not quite what you meant. This skill works in two stages, so your idea stays yours.

Stage 1: the outline

Give it a brain dump, a rough idea, an article or a link. If it can't tell what you actually think, it asks up to three questions first, like "what do most people get wrong here?"

It checks any facts, names the predictable takes most creators would post, and finds the angle that's yours because it's true and specific, not because it's contrarian. You get a short outline: your thesis, the angle, a hook direction, the beats, and the ending. Then it stops and waits for you.

Stage 2: the script

Once you approve the outline, it writes a 45 to 60 second spoken script, about 100 to 130 words. It's written for the ear: contractions, natural transitions, one concrete example, and your reaction to the topic kept intact. It avoids the patterns that make scripts sound generated, like stacked fragments and "it's not X, it's Y."

Revisions that don't start over

Tell it "too mechanical," "too long before the value" or "this line sounds like me," and it changes only what you flagged.

Works for Reels, TikTok and YouTube Shorts. Add my-context.md with a few of your own lines and it calibrates to how you talk.

Try it

  • "I have an idea for a reel:" followed by your brain dump
  • "Outline a short video from this article"
  • "Turn this outline into a script"
